Monitoring and Controlling Information Technology Projects is a two-day course that will provide the student with the necessary tools to measure and monitor project progress effectively within the context of a project management methodology and a typical software development life cycle. Students will use a variety of tools and techniques to bring in a project scope as defined, on time, and on budget. Special attention is focused on communications skills and techniques for effectively sharing information for IT organizations whether internal or external to the performing organization’s structure.

Tyrone Howard
Tyrone "Ty" Howard graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree and as a Nationally Ranked NCAA Division I student-athlete. Ty later went on to coach at Arizona State University where coached, motivated, and mentored other student athletes to reach their own personal brand of self excellence. Ty believes that with a strong body, an individual needs a strong mind. Subsequently, he earned a Masters in Public Administration at Arizona State University and a Master’s of Science in Technology.
Ty is currently the CIO for the Arizona Department of Water Resources. Prior to this position he was the Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO) Manager for the City of Chandler. In this capacity, he was instrumental in developing and implementing the methodology the City’s IT Division has adopted for its project management process.
In 2005, Ty became the fourth recipient since 1998 of the PMI Eric Jenette Project Management Excellence Award in recognition of his contributions to the project management profession. Additionally, he was elected to serve as the Director of Professional Development for the PMI-Phoenix Chapter for 2006 and on the Board of Directors for the United Way.
Awards and Recognition: Other awards and recognition received by Mr. Howard are: CIO 100 Magazines Leaders to Watch and Computer World Magazine, IT Leaders under 40.
Ty is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and has acquired a Project Management Certificate from the University of Phoenix. He has done corporate training for companies such as USWEST, Axient Communications, GITA (State of Arizona) and ON Semiconductor. He is a member of the University of Phoenix Faculty, where he has consulted and developed several project management courses that are used nationally. Additionally, he is a faculty member at Keller Graduate School, where he teaches business, project management and public administration.
