Well, the time has finally come for me write my last and most important letter to you. This will be my final opportunity to put down on paper the many things that come to mind as I prepare to step down as the President of the Phoenix Chapter. I will be turning the reins over to Cory Smith, your President-Elect at the end of this month.
So, let me share a few words with you about this great chapter you all are members of here in Phoenix. During our visit in October to the North American Leadership Meeting, I had the opportunity to speak with Mark Langley, the President, and CEO of PMI. In that meeting, Mark said, “John, you run a great chapter and you should be proud”. What Mark did was reinforce what I have known for two years, this is a great chapter and I am very proud of what we have accomplished, but more, I am proud to have worked with so many great volunteers.
It is the volunteers working diligently to bring you, the membership, the Value you expect and have come to know from the chapter. We bring you excellent speakers such as James Snyder, Founding Father of PMI, Randy Black, 2019 Chair of the Board of Directors of PMI, and Dr. James Brown, and monthly Breakfast Meetings, thank you Programs. We bring you a new and improved website, an electronic newsletter, and so much more, thank you Communications. We bring you a PMP Study Groups in two locations, Agile Up and PDU Opportunities, thank you Professional Development. We are building liaisons at many of the Corporations in town, building a presence with our Military, and developing new Sponsorships, thank you External Relations. We have utilized Social Media, held Career Building days and more planned for 2019, thank you Marketing. We are developing relationships with our new members through communications and orientations, thank you Membership. We bring you event Surveys and listen to your feedback, thank you Operations. And there, assisting with all of these endeavors is the Finance team, thank you. These are the Volunteers, no really the ‘Value’ of the Chapter, they make it all work and I am very proud of them. It has been a Privilege to work with you.
This has been a great time in my life. I have held the position of President for two years, and have loved my job. I was not sure what to expect when I was elected, but this has exceeded my expectations many times over. I thank you all, the members, the volunteers, and the Board of Directors.
It has been an Honor to serve you.
