The highlight for May will be Dr. James Brown, who will be holding two classes, Conflict Management for Project Managers, and Leadership Skills for Project Managers. We are offering a discount if you attend both classes, being held at the University of Phoenix at Fountainhead on May 16th and 17th. James will also be our speaker at the May 16 dinner meeting. Please check the website for all the details.
In a recent survey, the membership noted that the primary reason people joined PMI Phoenix, was for networking. We have time set aside at all our meetings, both dinner and breakfast to meet with others attending. We also offer Social Networking events every other month, so please register and attend an event soon to meet with others in the area with similar interests. Our next dinner meeting is May 16th. We hold 4 breakfast meeting throughout greater Phoenix every month, and our next social networking event will be in June so please check our calendar on the PMI Phoenix website, www.phx-pmi.org, for all the details on all the events.
This month I am going to focus on vision. The vision of the Phoenix chapter is to provide education and professional develop to our membership so they can prosper in their careers. We do this in several ways, but primarily we offer training and education to obtain PMI certifications, and opportunities for PDU’s if you are already certified. We have several resources that we utilize locally, and bring in highly published authors/speakers such as Dr. Harold Kerzner, and Dr. James Brown when we can. These are the steps we take to maintain our focus on education and professional development to meet our continued vision.
We cannot run our chapter without volunteers. PMI has over 10,000 volunteers throughout the world working in chapters and advisory positions to keep the Institute progressing. If you want to be a volunteer, please let us know. Our current volunteers allow us to provide benefits to our members, but more volunteers would allow us to provide more services and value. I appreciate all the hard work that our volunteers give to the chapter.
