Our election process is over for 2018. We were seeking 3 individuals for the Board of Directors, the open positions being VP Programs, VP External Relations and VP Communication. I am pleased to announce the positions have all been filled through the election process and the results are as follows:
VP Programs – Jim Johnson
Jim has been on the programs team for several years and has been running our A/V equipment for the Evening Chapter Meetings. We look forward to his knowledge and perspective in filling the VP Programs role.
VP Communications – Shane Cretacci
Shane was appointed to the position earlier this year and has done a great job. He is extremely knowledgeable in our Communications tools, having worked on that team for several years, and brings that experience to the VP Communications role.
VP External Relations – Trevor Stasik
Trevor has experience with the chapter is several areas, including Membership and External Relations. He is the AVP of External Relations and will move into the VP role in January. Trevor is a Veteran and will be a great asset to our Military programs.
Pertaining to the elections, I want to sincerely thank the two Board members that will be leaving at the end of the year. Ron Askew, VP Programs has been in several leadership roles for the chapter and his knowledge and experience is vast. Tom Thorn, VP External Relations has spent a tremendous amount of time promoting our chapter throughout the valleys, working with businesses, academia, and military. Both will be missed.
October will be an action-packed month for the Chapter, starting out with our attendance at the North American Leadership Institute Meeting in LA on October 3-6. We will have eleven of our leaders attending and this meeting will provide guidance for our chapter leaders, and a chance for us all to meet with PMI Leadership. Then we jump into PMP Exam Prep Study Groups, kicking off in October. There is also Agile Up, our third edition, in late October on the 27th, and of course, Arizona Project Management week starting October 29th. If that is not enough, we have a Social Networking event on October 30th, at the Duck and Decanter, a great opportunity to meet your peers and obtain contacts.
In November, we will hold 2 meetings on the 14th, our regular Evening Chapter Meeting with a terrific speaker, Don Thoren. Don will speak about “Let Idea’s Compete – Not People.” And, we will be holding our Annual All Members Meeting, which starts at 5:15. This is our annual business meeting and the status of our Chapter’s Accomplishments for 2018, and plans for 2019. I recommend that all members attend, this meeting is free, as there will be a platform for your thoughts to be shared with the Board of Directors.
As I close this month, I mentioned several events that are coming up in October and November. I hope you attend all or some of these events. These are just some of the events that the chapter does to provide the member's Value. But that being said, each and every event cannot happen without our Volunteers, they are the backbone of the Chapter. Please consider becoming a volunteer, it is a great opportunity to be more involved with your profession, and the chapter. We cannot continue without Volunteers, and I am very appreciative of all the Chapter Volunteers. Thank You!
