Speaker Bio:

Kim Essendrup is a PMP certified project manager, consultant, and coach with over 20 years of experience managing projects, programs, PMO’s, and the resulting emotional trauma. Partner at the PPM consulting firm Kolme Group, he also has an unnatural fascination with Project & Portfolio Management tools and organizational design.

Kate Anderson is a project leader with over a decade of experience in the tech industry.  She has successfully delivered projects in data center closure and migration, disaster recovery, marketing, PPM tool deployment and several M&A integrations.  She's also experienced her share of failures, such as blowing through a project's $250k budget without ever delivering a functioning product and being part of a failed start up.  The thrill of delivering ambitious work keeps her coming back to project management roles.

Kim and Kate also co-host of the Project Management Happy Hour podcast, the place for frank and honest discussion about real-world issues in project management. Each episode, they cover real-world problems in project management in a way that’s not too dry, though it may get a bit salty from time to time.

Topic Description:

Stop the Scope Creep! Using Change Management to keep the monsters at bay
Controlling project scope is one of the most important things we can do as project managers, but nearly all of us are guilty of letting it slip at one time or another. Don’t let Scope Creep sneak up on you! In this presentation, Kim and Kate, co-hosts of the Project Management Happy Hour podcast bring this fun and slightly salty presentation to PMI Phoenix, sharing some tough-learned lessons, practical tips and maybe a couple horror stories about scope creep.
